SMS THROUGH YOUR OWN SIM. LOCAL CONTROL.

Aether
SMS Gateway

Turn an Android phone into your local SMS gateway.

Send alerts through your own SIM. Connect systems over AT, SMTP, REST or MQTT and manage your gateway locally.

YOUR SYSTEMS. YOUR INTERFACES.
  • OPC UA
  • AT / TCP
  • SMTP
  • REST API
  • MQTT
  • PRTG

ONE COMPACT GATEWAY. MORE CONTROL.

Your own SIM.
Your SMS gateway.

The core is simple: your systems submit a message and Aether sends it through your Android phone's SIM. OPC UA, monitoring, Telegram and WhatsApp extend that local gateway.

VISIBILITY INTO EVERY MESSAGE FLOW

Not just running.
Visible and manageable.

Services, SIMs, queues, OPC alarms and personal accounts. Manage the gateway from the Android app or your local browser.

ANDROID

Local control. On the device too.

One gateway, two ways in. Switch services independently, manage settings and configure OPC alarms step by step. The Android interface also serves as the local recovery console.

  • Clear, collapsible service groups
  • Users, certificates and license import
  • Dutch and English interfaces

OPC UA

A tag changes.
An alert follows.

Temperature, pressure, machine status or a fault bit. Browse the tag tree, choose the condition and build a message your colleague can act on.

  • Multiple endpoints and live tag values
  • Warning, alarm, repeat and recovery
  • Recipients with name and number
  • Personal alarm lists for authorized engineers

IT & INFRASTRUCTURE

PRTG & IT monitoring

Turn monitoring alerts into SMS through your own Android phone and SIM. Let PRTG or another monitoring tool submit messages through a suitable REST, SMTP or AT/TCP integration. Monitor Aether itself with separate sensors too.

  • Gateway services, queue, signal and uptime
  • Include OPC status in your external monitoring
  • Local SMS warnings for network and service issues

BUILT INTO AETHER

The features. No guesswork.

These features are in the current release candidate. Your license and role determine which capabilities are available.

Messaging & routingUse the interfaces your systems already speak.
AT over TCP/IP
Modem-style commands for compatible alarm systems and applications; configurable ports, allowed clients and RX/TX diagnostics.
SMTP mail-to-message
Convert mail to international phone numbers on your configured recipient domain. Route a dedicated domain from an existing mail server.
REST API & MQTT
Separate API clients and keys, MQTT broker/topics, configurable source transports and independent service switches.
SMS, Telegram & WhatsApp
Choose the transport per source or message. Telegram links phone numbers to registered bot recipients; WhatsApp uses the Business Cloud API.
SIM selection & failover
Choose primary and ordered fallback SIMs. Retry only after confirmed safe failures, not ambiguous sends that might duplicate an alarm.
OPC UA & industrial alarmsTurn changing process values into targeted notifications.
Multiple OPC UA servers
Discover server profiles and explicitly select an endpoint, security policy and mode.
Certificates & encrypted sessions
Manage the client certificate and server trust; download PEM, CER or DER for compatible server trust stores.
Live tag browser
Browse a tree of nodes, view changing values and select variables without writing to the server.
Alarm-rule wizard
Set the tag, condition, debounce, repeat interval and recipients step by step.
Message templates & recovery
Choose warning/alarm, insert dynamic fields, preview the message and configure recovery notifications.
PRTG & gateway monitoringKnow what the gateway is doing, not just whether its page opens.
PRTG & other monitoring tools
Separate sensors/endpoints for services, queues, signal and uptime, including OPC status.
Local fault monitoring
Send configured SMS alerts for local network/service problems, loss of charging power and low battery, with repeat intervals and recovery.
Queues & message history
Inspect transport and send status, search messages and remove queued messages or clear history.
Local vs. cellular networks
Choose Ethernet or Wi-Fi for local listeners and explicit mobile-data SIM routes for cloud transports.
Startup & diagnostics
Foreground operation, configured restart after reboot, service status and diagnostic logs. Validate Android battery settings for your device.
People, access & local controlGive each team the access it needs.
Users & configurable roles
Control permissions by role, including Technical Service and engineering workflows.
Personal alarms
Users manage their own alarm lists; other ordinary users cannot see or edit them. Admins see ownership.
HTTPS web management
Create a CSR, import a matching CA-issued certificate and chain, or use supported PFX/P12 import.
Separate administration
Central transports, accounts and certificate access remain permission-controlled.
NL/EN & offline licenses
App/web language selection, Dutch/English manuals and signed device-bound license import. Existing alarm templates are preserved.

Carrier charges and automation terms still apply. Telegram requires recipient registration. WhatsApp requires Meta configuration and may require paid templates. An accepted or queued status is not a delivery guarantee.

FROM EVALUATION TO DEPLOYMENT

Start with your own environment.

  1. 1

    Install & activate

Use a suitable Android device and a device-bound license. Set up the initial administrator and required Android permissions.

  2. 2

    Connect & configure

Choose Ethernet or Wi-Fi locally. Configure SIM routes, transports, endpoints and recipients; enable only the services you need.

  3. 3

    Test & monitor

Test actual alerts, recovery, reboot and sustained operation on your hardware. Include the gateway in your external monitoring.

ONE-TIME LICENSE PER INSTALLATION

Your gateway.
For the long run.

A perpetual license without a required expiry date. The signed license is checked locally; an unavailable license server does not stop the activated version.

Standard EUR 495.00 ยท Enterprise EUR 1295.00
One-time per device. Enterprise includes every module. VAT exempt (KOR).

FAQ

Good to know.

Do I need a cloud SMS provider?

For SMS, Aether uses the phone and its SIM rather than an external SMS API provider. Carrier charges, fair-use rules and restrictions on automated messaging still apply. WhatsApp and Telegram require their own online services.

Can I connect an existing alarm system?

Aether accepts AT/TCP, SMTP, REST and MQTT inputs. Compatibility depends on the commands and payloads your source uses; test it with your own system before deployment.

Can engineers create their own OPC alarms?

Yes, when their role has the relevant permissions. They can browse available tags and create personal rules without changing the shared AT or cloud transport configuration.

Does a perpetual license need daily activation?

A signed device-bound license is checked locally. The activated installed version does not require a daily license-server connection. Maintenance/update entitlement is a separate agreement.

Is the current version production-certified?

The current full-featured build is a release candidate. Validate continuous OPC monitoring, AT connectivity, message delivery, reboot behavior and battery settings on the exact device and network you will deploy. No end-to-end 100% delivery guarantee is claimed.

How do I open my customer order?

Use the personal access link sent by email. It opens your own order and invoice, not portal administration. Account/password login currently belongs to administrators; a full customer account area is not yet available.
